London Myriad Ensemble

The London Myriad Ensemble has given concerts internationally, with a repertoire by composers ranging from Mozart to Chick Corea. The ensemble performs principally as a wind quintet whose members share a passion for chamber music alongside a wealth of experience within the music profession.
As First Prize Winner of the 2nd Israeli Music Competition 2009, the London Myriad Ensemble has subsequently appeared on Radio 3 and at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, London.
The London Myriad Ensemble has also performed at venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James's Piccadilly, and at the residence of the British High Commissioner to the Seychelles; as Quintet in Residence at Dartington International Summer School, and at the Seychelles
International Festival of Classical Music. The group has also performed, by invitation, at Beauville Arts Wind Chamber week in South-West France supported by grants from the Musicians Benevolent Fund and the Tillett Trust.
The London Myriad Ensemble has an active interest in new music for wind quintet, aiming to raise the profile of the genre and to encourage the performance and commission of new works for this combination. They have worked closely with composers for Brighton’s Fringe Festival, having also given several world premiere performances including Ultramarine by Peter Nickol and wind sextet Natural Light by Julian Broughton. They also
gave the UK premiere of Towns of Wind and Wood by American composer Carl Schimmel at St Martin-in-the-Fields. Future plans include premieres of works by Gustavsson, Clarke and Peat plus recording work with Danish composer Brinch. The ensemble hope to soon record previously unrecorded works for wind quintet.
The London Myriad Ensemble also enjoys a variety of outreach work, having been International Artists with the Concordia Foundation as part of their ‘Young Audiences’ series. They are also commissioning a new work for wind quintet, flexible ensemble and narrator by composer Julian Broughton, forming part of an education project with schools in Elephant and Castle, Lambeth and Southwark. The project will then become a basis for future educational tours and professional performances.
