Raz will introduce participants to the skill of drumming with sticks, with exercises in dynamics, stick control and moving accents. We’ll learn about the rudiments of snare drum playing and about common patterns for the snare drum that feature in Brazilian music. And we’ll be introduced to Brazilian Carnival Percussion, learning the basics of styles such as Samba Batucada and Samba Reggae. Instruments covered will include surdo, tamborim, agogo, repinique, caixa and ganza.
