22 - 24 February 2011 (Midweek course)
Have you ever wished you could pick out a tune you’ve heard on TV or radio or work out an accompaniment to a melody? If so, this workshop is for you. It is suitable for musicians of any standard and on any instrument, including voice. Enthusiasm is more important than technical excellence and ability, and advanced keyboard skills are not necessary. Participants will learn how to listen to a tune, what to listen for and how to remember it, and how to copy it and work out an accompaniment in the process. Although Richard Smith’s approach is entirely new, it is founded on techniques over 150 years old which were developed to help musically illiterate choristers learn their vocal parts. It’s easier than you think, and a lot of fun.
